I have two dvd-roms:

DVDRW IDE 16X
and
SAMSUNG DVD-ROm SD-816B

There are firmware updates that work on some models of single layer DVDRW to make them dual layer, however, unless released by the manufacturer you go at your own risk.

You could end up damaging the drive & will no longer be able to use it at all.

do u mean double side dvd disc ?
i think your DVDRW only can read single side dvd and did not support double layer rewriteable disk.
