I've had 2 laporoscopies now, tried all the different combinations of hormone therapy at various different doses which brought about their own problems & my consultant thinks the only way forward is to have a coil which I find quite scary. Has anyone had any success or problems with a coil for this purpose?

My consultant thought I had endometriosis - she did a hysteroscopy last week, but hasn't come back to me with the results. She fitted a coil for me at the same time, apparently after a while it works by reducing the pain and bleeding. Have a look at the website I've attached, it might explain things a bit better.

Good luck, I hope things improve for you. xxxxx

Oooh no!!! I wouldn't have one of those things inside me for all the world. They can cause infections and make your Endo worse!

I have suffered from Endometriosis and had laparoscopies - it was only after one of them that I was able to conceive my baby son. But I wouldn't have a coil fitted. I've heard so many awful stories of Intra-Uterine infections and suchlike.

Plus if you have Endo putting anything foreign in your pelvic region like that will just irritate the womb lining and make things worse.

I really would not have this done if I were you, especially not if you want to have children in the future.

I have recently been diagnosed with this problem, and I'm on a 3 month injection called depo provera which has helped loads. I was also advised to keep a food diary, and have found that symptoms are much worse when I've eaten red meat. As for the coil, I'm afraid i cant help with that.
Hope this helps.

i had a coil, due 2 the nature of endometriosis, it can make a coil easy 2 expel.
go back 2 him & say no.
that's just my opinion, endometriosis is painful enough, adding a coil 2 the mix could make it worse.
& i'm surprised he's even suggested it!
a coil is 2 prevent pregnancy not 2 ease the symptoms of womb disorders!
ask him 4 some proof that this course of action has helped other women, b4 u consider it.
