The dipstick shows a level for 80*C so I assume the oil must be hot before checking the level.

Yes, for an automatic transmission check the fluid with the car running, in park, with the car warmed up.

You should be parked on level ground, transmission in park or neutral, park brake on and engine running and transmission oil warm. Pull out dipstick and wipe clean, reinsert dipstick and then pull out again and check oil level indicated

Engine and transmission should be at operating temperature and run through all the gears. Then put the car in Neutral and apply the parking brake.. pull dipstick, wipe clean, fully reinsert and pull out to check fluid level.

Depends on the car, but normally it's the engine running and the autobox in park. Most dipsticks have two scales, one for cold and one for hot (IE 80*C).

Automatic transmission fluid is normally checked with the engine running.

Usually with the fluid warm & the engine running, but it does vary. You need to check the handbook or with a dealer.

as some of the other answer`ers will tell you, check it as specified in the particular manufacturers guide. Having established what the correct level is when that method is followed, wait till the system is cold (usualy the next day) and then see what the level is cold. Take note of the difference and you can then in future use either !

You can't answer that question without knowing what kind of car it is. Most cars you check idling in park, some in neutral, others you check with engine off.
