I haven't rec'd calls for interviews, after sending resumes in response to job ads. Should I consider calling my staffing agencies after a certain amount of time passes and let them know I'm available to work (temp)? I don't have much in the bank, and the bills keep piling in. If so, how much time? I was so fired up on New Year's, promising I would leave the unstable world of temping, and find a job which not only pays me steadily, but also provides benefits, possibly 401K and health coverage. I've tried, in the past, asking my agencies if they could submit me for any permanent positions their clients were looking to fill... but to no avail. Your input is welcome.

2007 is predicted to be one of the best years to get an entry level position. There could be a number of reasons you aren't getting calls. You could be applying for difficult jobs, jobs that are outside your experience/education or your resume could be poorly done.
Step 1 - Resume. Have you had your resume reviewed? There are companies that will do it for a fee, but you don't need to go that way. Have a friend or two that will be honest with you, do an assessment. Go to your college and they should have a career center that will help you for free as an alumni. Check your library or community center for a one night resume class. Read books and check the internet for good resume examples. If your resume has typos, grammar errors, etc - you will never get a call back. This also goes for cover letters.

Step 2- Go to career fairs. We are coming up on prime season, as companies are looking for 2007 graduates. Check your college, other local colleges and the newspaper. Go to the websites and search for them or just call the schools directly and see when their next fair is. Go with a suit, a stack of resumes and a smile. Those companies are obviously hiring entry level jobs.

Step 3- Keep sending out resumes. Once you know your resume is good, just keep applying. Check monster and careerbuilder. There are tons of people with the same problem as you (I was one when I started - I was looking for a job in a very competitive field and had to send a large number of resumes before I even got an acknowledgement). Don't get upset about rejections and no responses - Just look at them as one more resume closer you are to getting a job. I know thats cliche, but it's true. Heck, even apply to jobs you're not that interested in...at least to get an interview. You may realize you do like it after all, and if not, you just reject any job offer.

Temping will pay the bills, and give you more knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's). After you send the resume in (with a proper cover letter I assume), do you call the company (about 2-4 days later) and ask if they received your resume? If they say yes, do you quickly say, "Great, when would you like me to come in for an interview?" If they shoot you down, you can ask them if there was something wrong on the resume, and they will tell you, just to help you prepare for the next company. Don't be shy or afraid to ask either, be blunt--"Was there something on my resume that made you decide not to interview me? If so, would you please inform me of it, so I can fix it?" That sometimes will get you an interview. Are you using a functional or chronological resume? Functional will highlight your KSA's, while chronological will highlight your years at a place. It could also tell your age--if you are an older worker. Use the 4 C's = Calm, Cool, Collected, and Confident to ace the interview once you get it. Good luck!!

that would not sound solid in any respect. large employers inspect temps as underskilled workers and some inspect them as too lazy to paintings an finished week etc. some employers inspect Temps as determined people. in many situations they are maximum ideal. many people Temp because they could't very last in an finished time interest without being fired for being lazy, no longer arriving on time, no longer being waiting to do the interest etc. etc. besides the undeniable fact that,as you're conscious, there are some solid Temps obtainable that are properly qualified and paintings flat out. the first aspect is to position out your CV in a diverse order. First, you've your information, next you record your interests and interests. area 3 is the position you record your skills including any skills , certificate etc. in trouble-free terms after those do you need to record your practise and skills referred to through employment. from time to time, when you're one hundred% positive that you'll destroy out with it, you are able to stretch the lengths of employment sufficient to eliminate different very couple of minutes period ones. once you've worked for most businesses, keep your employment record to the previous 5 years and in trouble-free terms aspect out the different major employment in the area for skills and / or skills. yet another little tip is to create a impressive header because the first aspect which will galvanize a plausible corporation is your creativity. Too many CVs are bland and seem as if they were created in Wordpad. once you've a touch spare money, you need to colour the header, print on modern paper and make a the front cover, with card and bind your CV. which will supply a plausible corporation a wow aspect of 10/10 and almost assure an interview.
