Several people have mentioned the dehydration issue. But I want to also point out that what is making it worse is that when have been drinking, you stop releasing a hormone called ADH. This is the stuff that tells your kidneys to recycle your water instead of peeing it. OIn other words, you will STAY dehydrated to some degree for a FEW DAYS after a binge. If your hangover is bad enough, go to the ER, and have them hydrate you with an IV. If it's not that bad, then drink water, avoid coffee, and make a personal commitment to take your health more seriously.

I wrote a paper about this in Nursing School.
Alcohol is a diuretic (makes you pee). The symptoms of a hangover are mostly related to dehydration and the resulting sludging of blood cells in the small blood vessels of your body.
Probably the best way to handle this is to drink LOTS AND LOTS of (non- alcoholic) fluid. Gator Ade or some other type sports drink is best. That and sufficient sleep.
Also, someone once told me that Vit B1, taken before you go to bed after drinking helps with the symptoms. I've personally found this to be helpful.

Hangovers are caused mostly from dehydration. You need to drink plenty of fluids, especially with electrolytes. Fruit juice, Tang or Gatorade are good choices. Water will help, too.
You should also take a good multi-vitamin. Get plenty of vitamins C and B complex.
Tylenol or Advil will help, but you should make sure the alcohol is out of your system, as both can cause liver damage when used with alcohol.

This is the second hang over question This morning. Where was the big party? I missed getting an invitation. Cure, a banana milk shake, sweetened with honey. It replenishes your b-vitamins and sooths the stomach, while the milk help re-hydrate. I also like yogurt to neutralize the stomach acid.

Alcohol has a de-hydrating effect on the body, and some of the hang-over feeling comes from lack of fluids.
Now I'm sure you are thinking " Hey, but I drank a lot". :)
Not the right fluid though....
You should definitely make that banana shake, it will do exactely what it says... but remember to add lots of water to your body.....drink at least 64 ounces of water before dinner...you'll feel better.
Just a small ex-bartender tip....sugary drinks are worth than straight up.

Avoid hangovers... stay drunk!
I know it won't help now, but remember that in the future!
