i know what you mean, has your p.c got a graphics card, not a onboard graphics adapter that some systems have
well if you monitor goes into the socket located by your mouse and keyboard sockets, you can be defenite you have a onboard graphics adapter
but if your monitor plus in further down the back of your p.c then you will probally have a pci-express or agp graphics card
to find out your graphics card there are a few ways
1.go to run and type dxdiag> then press enter...you will then see the direct x diagnostic utility and then press the display tab and the name of your graphic card will be there, also you will see the version of direct x you are running(this is a driver from microsoft that is used in graphics in games)the latest version is direct x 9.0c
2 you can also right click anywhere on the desktop and press properties>then press settings and under the resolutions bar you will see the name of your card on the name of your monitor, most of the time your monitor will come up as a defualt monitor, but this is normal
3.the last way is to open your p.c case and physically inspect the card, most good cards have the name on a sticker somewhere on the card
i hope this helped mate
good luck

Your PC has a video card if it has a VGA or d-sub video output on the rear. Right click on the desktop to select properties. Select setting from the tabs. Your video chip set will be listed in the middle of the box.
