How would you answer this question? I didn't knew those people at all (and told them that)!

I would probably say that I would be professional in my job and that would involve working with them so yes I would like to work with them. I think they expect you to do a bit of research on the company and might not have ment them personally but them as in the company. It's a difficult one. You did your best. When will you hear if you got it?

Are you sure they didnt ask "Why do you want to work for us?" - -that is a typical interview question...I would answer,......Gosh, I dont know that much about this position yet.....I hope I do, and that you want me to work with you also......lets talk about ....(job description/expectations/pay, etc/if hours work for you and them...)
