I suggest she sees a doctor - it could be nothing, but I had no cramping during my first pregnancy, and all went smoothly.
During my second (I'm 27 weeks now) I had cramping for the first 4 months, like very bad period pains, and I nearly miscarried at 16 weeks - I got to hospital in time to save my baby from being born, but I have been on bed-rest ever since, I have placenta previa and a haematoma close to my uterus, which were what were causing the pressure and pain.
She should get it checked out, if nothing else, to put her mind at ease. Severe pain is not normal during pregnancy.
Hope I helped. And good luck to her. :-)

some people do get cramping throughout their pregnancy but if it is severe she should go and see her dr or get up to the e.r. as it could be serious

She must see the doctor immediately. It could be just gas, but it could be a miscarriage. If it's a miscarriage it's better for the doctor to see her now rather than later.

If it is severe, she needs to call her doc a.s.a.p. If it's mild, have her drink some water (sometimes I cramped a bit if I wasn't drinking enough water).
