It can be. Just as all addiction not everyone gets hooked in. The human creature lacks instincts and argueably because of such lacks a human nature. For centuries we have tried to figure out what human nature is. Unfortunately we are all different, the interactions of our society, sociolazation, physiology, and biology all make us unique and it's impossible for everyone to agree upon one thing, even something as rewarding as peace or as fun as... well maybe I won't go there but you get the idea.

Are you saying that peace isn't a possibility in our time?
I tried to understand by rewording your question.
Why can't we be addicted to peace at this time in history?
***Addiction is a chronic disorder. It is physical, psychological or physiological
What do you mean peace can't be an addiction for us?
IF PEACE COULD BE AN ADDICTION - AROUND THE WORLD.
I CERTAINLY HOPE THAT IT MAKES A COMEBACK!

1. Many people, both psychology professionals and laypersons, now feel that there should be accommodation made to include psychological dependency on such things as gambling, food, sex, pornography, computers, work, exercise, cutting, and shopping / spending. However, these are things or tasks which, when used or performed, cannot cross the blood-brain barrier and hence, do not fit into the traditional view of addiction.
2. Both physical dependence and psychological addiction does not have to be limited only to substances; even various activities and behavioral patterns may be considered addictions if they are harmful, e.g. gambling, Internet use, usage of computers, sex / pornography, eating, self-harm or work.

I think because there is always kind of like a bitterness in people when they see someone is happy and in peace with themselves. Unhappy people like it when everyone else unhappy. Misery loves company. Unhappiness doesn't like peace and harmony in this life because unhappiness doesn't know what it is...
