Well, that depends. If you bought the car "as is" you might have very little chance of returning it. Did you have the car checked by a mechanic when you bought it? Lemon Law, well that depends on where you live. I don't think all states honor it. I would definetly contact the seller; get an estimate of repair from a mechanic and make really good notes about any correspondence with the seller. If the seller gives you any promises, try to get them in writing (i.e., email the seller with something like: "thanks that you agreed to do this or that.") As soon as you get a response back through email or text message stating something like " hey, no porblem, that is the least I can do" you have something to show should you have to go to samll calims court. I hope, it does not have to come to this.
Contact the seller and get an estimate of repair from a certified mechaninc, make sure that the estimate is in writing and as detailed as possible.
Maybe you can talk to the seller to help you out.
I hope this helps.

I don't think there is a lemon law per say, and if there is you usually have to take it back 3-4 times.

If you don't have warranty on it you can still call them to have it fixed.

There is a think called implied warranty which is a law which basically states that when you buy something you have the right to the reasonable expectation that what you bought will work as intended. I am pretty sure that it is a national law.

No lemon law on used cars. But call the seller and ask. It may have to do with the 'theft' thing more than a problem.

Was there any kind of a warranty or did you purchase it as is. It is 8 years old--I am not sure lemon laws apply here.

try the other key if you have one. It could be a number of things,i can't look at it for you. if you have a warranty take it back and inform your service writer of said problem.or take it to a dealer or ase cert. mechanic, but this will cost if you purchased w/ AS IS No Warranty

I would take it back. At least see what the problem is, not completely return it necessarily. If you bought it from a dealer, there should be some kind of warranty. If you bought it straight from the previous owner, I would still take it back to him/her and hopefully he/she will do something for you.

Yes, you're freaking out. It's way too early to get this worked up. It may be a simple problem and a quick fix.

BUT, this is why it is important to buy from a reputable dealer. If it is a problem, they will want to fix it for you. If you bought from a shyster...

Relax, call the dealer. In most States you have three days to back out of a deal if thats what you want to do, they will probably fix it for free. Have a neighbor give you a jump.
