So your trying to say that the persian's/Iraq dont deserve your time and effort to make them a solid country again. Yet you are talking about one of the oldest civilizations on the PLanet. Egypt and China being about the only few that are older. America is only a few hundred years old and has had many wars in its small history, about 1 major war every 20 years. Maybe you should look at the propaganda that is being fed to you from thier own govt in USA and try to answer your own question with another question. Would you be grateful if a foreign invader came here, destroyed our infrastructure, tortured and killed people, mostly at random, set up a puppet state, and wouldn't leave? According to the most accurate statistics the attacks are by Iraqi Nationals against the Americans trying to get them to leave! The waste is our own, and as far as stepping up to the plate, they'll have stepped up if we leave, as the Enemy as they define it will have left. American Troops are not dying for the Iraqi people, they are dying so that Halliburton and Exxon can become wealthy.

I think the Sunnis are very upest that they no longer dictate and control Iraq. I think the Shiites are thankul that Saddam has been removed and no longer persecutes them. I think the Kurds are very thankful that they are no longer subject to genocide tactics practiced on them by the Sunnis and Shiites.

Now, I think that the all ( except possibly the Kurds) want to be left alone by the US, al Quaeda, Iran, the insurgents and everyone else to try to put the pieces back together. Unfortunately, many of the religious leaders and Iran/Syria will not let this happen.

It's not just the Iraqis wasting money. There's TCN's (Third-country nationals) that the government is paying to do menial labor like put in parking lots, clean buildings, etc., that don't do jack most of the time.
