Many of the "stories" found in The Bible oddly correspond almost exactly to "myths" found in Ancient Greece Mythology. Is this a coincidence? If so - why are we so reluctant to accept Christianity as mythology rather than literal history and actuality in nature?

Do you believe in Zeus? God? If you don't believe in Zeus, what is your basis for belief in God? Think about it.

Not odd at all that they are similar. They are based on these stories or stories from other older cultures. We are not reluctant, just some people are still falling back on their fears generated by their tribal genetics and still believe in all of that myth stuff. Even guys with penthouses, and using blackberries still may believe in some of those religious myths. I think that we are still just a few generations out of the tribal lifestyle, and in some parts of the world the tribal cultures are still very present. In a few hundred years I suspect most of these old tribal genetics will be washed out, and modern man will finally arrive and cast off religion as so much nonsense and a waste of time.

collective unconscious is what Karl Young talks about when it comes to mythology. He underlies that all myths around the world are pretty much based upon human dreams and dreams are created by human unconscious. So he supports that there's something common in every civilization, the collective unconscious, part of human nature despite the differences between cultures. This thought can justify why there are similarities between myths of different civilizations but it could also justify why todays religions correspond to myths. You could consider every religion to be part of mythology because for us they are just stories of thousands of years and nothing said or described can be really accurate, the only thing left to consider is your belief in god and what you believe god is

I would consider Christian mythology as just that only if I had an intelligent mind of my own. There is no coincidence. Christians adopted pagan ceremonies to further their own cause. We are reluctant to go against what we have been taught. I believe in the energy that is alive in us and the earth.

Christianity resembles more than just Greek Mythology. Try looking up Nordic Mythology. My basis for believing in the Nordic religion is it has written proof behind it. The religion is factual. I have a hard time believing in something unproven. I

This of course is from dictionary.com, and well, yes, christian religion, being based on a book of stories that were made up to explain the way things are, is a form of mythology, as is -every- religion, some of us just aren't afraid to admit it.
