What really happened in the 9/11 crash?

I got to Tauton College and I'm taking History for a GCSE and this is the subject that I'm doing but I'm a bit stuck on the facts! Can anybody help? I would be really please if I got a A and it would be down to you mostly! Please,Please,Please HELP!

I helped my niece once do this but like I dont't really do History so like I have no idea what really happened please help someone! You know you want to!

At least you are honest, you, "don't do History" :-) hahah!

Although events that happened in 2001 don't seem very much like history to me - these are still very recent events. But, perhaps you have never seen a newspaper, or TV, or heard another person speak?

I'll stop picking on you. What happened was a group of hijackers stole four planes in eastern US airports. These were all planes loaded with jet fuel. They were all due to arrive on the west coast later that day. The hijackers took control of the planes using box cutters. They had all attended flight school in the US in the past few years and all were members of Al Queda and had attended training camps based in the Taliban controlled Afghanistan. (I may have the exact details wrong of who attended what where, so be sure to check on Wikipedia or another reputable site)

Once in control of the planes the hijackers smashed them into various landmarks. One screamed through Washington DC and smashed into the Pentagon. Two blasted into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. One one smashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Within an hour both the towers in NYC had collapsed from structural damage.

I remember this "history" quite well. I was glued to my computer watching the streaming video. Desperately trying to get in touch w/ my NY teammates.

As a result the UN invaded Afghanistan. Afterwards the US invaded Iraq. The exec branch of the US gov. (this is the Pres and his staff) took unprecedented control of the gov. creating the dept of homeland security, and invading citizen's privacy at a whole new (and disturbing) level.

Also related: A few months after the 9/11 attacks another Al Queda operative was found trying to set off a shoe bomb on an international flight. Several letters containing anthrax were delivered in the US. A year later a terrible bombing too place in Spain again by Al Queda. A year or so later England experienced their own terrible domestic bombing. I'm leaving off other terrorist attacks - you can find many others if you do a bit of research that lead back to fundamentalist Islamic nut cases who do not mind killing themselves and uncounted innocents to make a rather stupid political point.

I can't believe you missed all this. I hope that rock you have been living under is comfortable.

depends who you believe:-
if you beleive the conspriacy nuts then the CIA/NIA/soemoneelse flew two planes by remote contorl into the World Trade Centre, using either a control pod attached to the side of the plane Or if you prefer no planes crashed intot he WTC, and they and various other buildings were flattened by explosives

if you believe some/many muslims the planes were hijacked by parties unknown, or the buidling werre blown up, but no muslim was involved.

if you believe the US Government variious (predominantly Saudi) muslims hijacked various planes... two of which were deliberately crashed into the world trade centre.

So its over to you

who do you believe, how do you proove or disproove that belief.

Me personally I go with the idea that it was various Saudi Muslims who hijacked the planes and flew them into the WTC. But you need to make your own mind up. I hear some people say it wasnt a plane that crashed into the WTC.. but I remember seeing the TV footage form various angles showing the crash of the second plane. I remember the sound of the engines at high power, followed by the sudden ceassation of the engines.

Bear in mind that history is always made up by the victors... never by the loosers, so what happened may be rewritten in 50..100 years to reflect the new leaders perspective.

Have you been to Mars on holiday??
It's been in the news since it happened and a brilliant film/documentary was made about it.
The bravery of those people was astounding...I was n't a fan of the USA but I take my hat off to them..they have come through it remarkably.

First of all there wasn't one 'crash' there were several - two in NY, one at the Pentagon and the one in Pennsylvania. Information is all over the internet - do your research, do your work and you'll get your "A"
