Sure. I use different softeners with the downy ball. Use the normal fill line unless it's concentrated. For concentrated softeners lust add a little bit of water til the consistancy looks right.

Sure you can. I have use the Downy ball for years with whatever softener I bought. It's a just a way to get the softener released without having to keep checking your machine. You don't have to dilute every brand. Only the brands that are concentrated need diluting.
