I am planning to research and aide in the design of our future home. I am looking for the most energy effecient, practical, most nature like house. It's a lot of work, possibly $$, but I want something that is different, has good flow, and compliments our lifestyle. Any thoughts on where to start?

My home was designed and built off plan and I had it built to my spec.It cost £524,000 to build and its now valued at over a million.
Its without a doubt the best way to invest in a home that u have had built yourself as the return you get is far greater than buying a home built by some other company.

As an interior decorator I suggest that your start with color scheme, think about how colors in the natural world affect you. Get paint chips and make up your mind with colors, choose the ones that lift your spirit.
A good start if you really want to create a good flow of energy is to hire a Feng Shui consultant. If you heard about Feng Shui, it's the acupuncture of the space, Feng Shui helps you to find a balance in your home and creates harmonious atmosphere. In a Feng Shui perspective, less is more, surround yourself with what you love.
Find a local Feng Shui consultant in your area and also read advices on how to decorate your home from home to create harmonious atmosphere. Hope it helps!
