I am writing a paper for college, on the subject of self enslavement. I would like to know what others think of the title. I would like for it to be on the mental format. Meaning, why do people limit themselves mentally, what are they afraid of learning. It is so hard for someone to think outside of the box. Also, that there are more colors in the world than black, white and gray. Why is so hard for people to open their mind and see the other colors of the world. Thank you for all of your opinions.

Enslavement of The Mind.....or.....Mental Enslavement.......those would be my choices, actually the 2nd one.

Why do people limit?....Better said, "Why do people choose to limit themselves?" I believe the question I posed is more accurate and covers a broad spectrum of "excuses."

There are people that dwell on the negative and "Limit" themselves.. (excuses) may be in place due to becoming "anti-social"...which can happen if overly protected as a child...(not allowed to explore)......or....from being abused mentally and/or physically.....(scorned for expressing ideas, desires, needs, etc..)
Alot of these people try holding back tears, which leads to more grief.

"Survivors"...Survivors teach themselves to overcome, be strong, go forward and let emotion flow....as needed. (nothing wrong with "being" human)

Colors? This is so simple, yet mankind produces "selfish greed" in themselves on this subject.....there's always a chain-reaction, whether anyone will admit it, or not. As the chain grows longer, hatred grows. Why? Mankind (in general) is selfish, (self absorbed) easily swayed, (hence, sheeple) war-mongers ......(anything anyone does/says can cause "civil unrest" (proven world wide)..............ANYTHING that ANYONE does/says, CAN and WILL offend someone, somewhere, on this planet.
Racism? Most blame culture..family....others............
I blame this: (superiority complex)....people trying to be on top, no matter who gets trampled, at all expences.

Like I said,"This is so simple".....so easy to correct...mankind CHOOSES to make it hard.

I live my life in a way that confuses people, for some odd reason.
I do know that I cannot be labeled/categorized, because I can/do mix with all individuals...I have friends in all continents...they all respect me, as I do them. (Alot of people actually hate me for that)
Note: I'll never be "figured" out and I like it that way.

"The battles we fail today......our children will fight tomorrow"
This is an unbroken circle.........so sad

To address the latter part of your question, some things look better on greyscale and some things look better in color. Not only is that true in art but it can also be true in life.

I believe that many times when people mentally restrict themselves in what they do or learn it's because they want to meet societal norms. People restrain thier behavior because they want to be socially accepted or because they don't want to be locked up in a mental institute or correctional facility. The same can apply to learning. It's scary how engrained stupid says are in our minds but they can actually have a cognitive affect. One saying that immediately pops into my head is that "curiosity killed the cat."

In a non-mental way (I know you want more mental) but some people restrain or enslave themselfs in regards to learning because they don't want to, as they may feel, waste their "precious" time, energy, or other resources on something that may not yield any kind of reward.
