the human are made to fit their purpose. if you on the right path and you do your purpose, then your job is going well.
the getting older of our bodies means that our bodies do their job and therefore they got older.
it is like car or TV. It has the exact lasting time. As long as they work properly, they do their job.
if you would live forever, you will always be older model of human body and you will have to upgrade your brain and body.
why you should upgrade when is cheaper to buy new model - your children. they will always be better than you because they are brand new.
For example, try upgrading your computer and soon you will realise that new computer is always better than yours.
therefore God made children. you just give to them your message and their life is your life.

Why the breakdown of tissues?
It is most likely related to telomeres, little bits of DNA at the end of chromosome that get shorter each time a cell reproduces. Those, it is believed, act like a counter. When the telomere is gone, the cells "knows" it is old and does not reproduce anymore.
There are two types of cells that do not undergo telomere reduction when dividing: cancerous cells, and stem cells.
So, can it be stopped? Yes, maybe. Research in cancer and in stem cells may provide cues on how the maintain telomeres, which could allow indefinite self regeneration of tissues and could even allow crippled people from growing back a lost limb or fixing spinal chord injuries.
It has been suggested that, by the year 2025 or so, the life expectancy will increase by more than a year for each 12 month period, i.e. that the progress of medecine and biology may allow people alive then to keep on living until the next big discovery.
I am all for it.
As to the notion that living forever would create a population explosion, it should be pointed out that
- living to be 160 years (instead of 80 years old now) would only double the population over the next 80 years, and we have the time to address this
- some countries already have a birth rate that is less than the natural replacement, i.e. their population will eventually start decreasing. Measures can be put in place to delay or restrict the rate of reproduction
- perhaps population pressure will help with the colonisation of space and outward expansion of humanity. If you live to be 300 years old, then a 50 year journey across the solar system is not that big a burden anymore (it can still be boring, but it would be something you can't come back from)

It is expected that eventualy, there will be a cure for aging as scientintists will one day be able to find a way make our cells regenerate, and keep regenerating. there is no telling when this technology will be available, it could be within the next 10 years, or i the next 100, but we're getting there, fast.

for something to look forward to, scientists are beginning to stop the enzyme that shortens your dna after replication producing age side effects. life could practically be doubled. aging is a part of life though. you just have to live with it.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do. There is no such thing as aging gracefully, everytime I look at my face and see all the tiny little lines that are just going to get worse!

We can't at present, and the population would skyrocket if no-one died, and we couldn't feed them. Eat nutritious food, exercise daily, and keep your mind active and maintain a positive outlook. Study Gerontology (try the Wikipedia & Google websites).
