It has an EPG (electronic programme guide) that updates at 3am UK time, but it hasn't worked since about Jan 19th. I've called the Sony helpline, and they said there was a problem with updating the software, (I think they had a glitch while trying to update the software). How can they rectify this problem if the old software is corrupted? and has anyone else got this problem?. I've been told that my details have been recorded and a supervisor will contact me asap, that was a week ago but no call yet.

An update is in the process of being sorted so don't fret. Unfortunately it doesn't happen overnight. Tests have to be performed to ensure no secondary problems occur to another software driven program, and has to scrutinised at a high level in Japan before being released. Just go with the flow until the update is uploaded.

I am going through this exact problem - I came across this area through searching for a solution.
The HDD recorder is now about 1 month old - The problem only started recently (a few days ago). Currently we get, at most, the days programs (up to 10pm) on some channels. Some channels get only the next couple of hours showing! A lot of films and programs also appear as 'Film to be announced' etc.
Ironically we have a Sony freeview set-top box in another room and the EPG on that works just fine. The methods these EPGs are updated are different which would be the reason for this.
Its getting very frustrating and I am begining to consider returning the product as faulty.
