If you have never been staring down the barrel of an unwanted and unplanned pregnancy, no matter what the reason, then I don't think you can truly comprehend what it is like to fully answer this question.

Every child has a right to life but it also has a right a quality of life.

Is forcing or shaming a woman to go through with an unplanned pregnancy and give birth to a child she does not want and/or does not have the resources to care for properly ever a good thing? Especially if the pregnancy is the result of an assault or incest. Or if there is a problem with the pregnancy that is going to endanger the life if the mother, or if the fetus has a medical condition that is incompatable with life outside the womb.

Forced cycles of poverty and welfare dependancy generation after generation is a crime. Child abuse and neglect are crimes.

Since the dawn of time women have been seeking ways to end wanted pregnancies for a whole host of reasons. It is naive in the extreme to assume that abolishing or illegalising abortion will suddenly make women stop seeking terminations and instead go ahead give birth to their babies, simply handing them over to adoption agencies if their circumstances prevent them from keeping and raising the child themselves, while the birth mothers return to normal life.

All it will do is force terminations back underground, placing women's live at risk at the hands of backyard abortionists. It will create a black market of racketeers. It will mean more young women left holding their babies claiming welfare while the fathers are who knows where. Girls dropping out of school. Grandparents raising children they never asked to have. More children at risk of abuse and neglect. Strain on the child welfare and foster systems.

It is a private and deeply personal issue, that should never render a women the victim of a harsh judgement.

Depends on the situation.

A teenager getting pregnant, it's an answer......no child should be raising a child, nor should their parents be raising a child they never asked for. There's enough dysfunction in this world without teens adding to it by getting pregnant. Then, after the abortion, they should be put on birth control.

If a woman gets pregnant and there is no reason besides selfishness to abort, I feel it's not even a crime, but selfish.

A woman has a right to do what she wishes to her body. If an abortion is done as soon as it is found out she is pregnant, it's not a fetus yet and doesn't even have a heartbeat...it is just a bunch of cells.....so in that case, it's up to the woman. If it does have a heartbeat (10 weeks or so), it's another story...although I will never consider it a crime.

Actually, I'm all for mandatory abortion when welfare people get pregnant...cuz we all know they do it just to get extra money from the state and that's just not right......then, after the abortion, they should have their tubes tied. But that's just my opinion...........

Killing innocent human beings is a crime, and every abortion kills an innocent human being. It's not complicated. For more information, see:

I think it depends on the situation. If you are aborting due to your won irresponsibility of no protection aka the pill or condoms then you should be responsible for the child. If you are raped, I think you should be allowed to abort. There are always other options like adoption if you can't afford to raise a child.

This question is about the moral or legal ramifications of abortion, and thus belongs in the Politics and Law forum of Answers, not this one.

Crime.

If you're a teenager and you get pregnant without being married, it's your fault. You shouldn't get away with it.

Plus, abortion is murder. Even if a baby is only a few months old, it could have lived a perfectly good life if you didn't kill it.

Thank God Bush abolished partial birth abortion, that is DISGUSTING.

I think abortion should only be an option in cases of rape or if it would endanger the mother's life.
