I think they will take JaMarcus Russell from LSU because they have been playing musical QBs and big QBs are the vogue. Another plus for Russell is that he has not yet shown his best - he has room to grow. If that tackle that they took high a couple years ago (R Gallery I think his name is) begins to pan out they could improve with Russell at QB. THere are outside chances they will surprise and take Calvin Johnson or A Peterson. I don't think they will take Thomas out of Wisc because they haven't given up on Gallery. I don't think Branch (from a Big10 school up north), Thomas, nor Peterson are worth 1st of the 1st picks.
If I were the Raiders I would talkto teams like SD and CHI who have glaring sinle needs SD (WR), CHI (QB) to see what they would give me to trade way down because there are real imapct players available at those positions. Brady Quinn might not have the upside that J Russell has but he is a near finished product already taking snaps in a pro set and could make CHI better quickly. C Johnson going to SD wouldn't be fair to the rest of the AFC.

It's too soon to tell but I have to go with Jamarcus Russell the 6'6" 255 pound beast. Lane Kiffin the Oakland Raiders coach, said that he wants a powerful, explosive offense. I don't know what kind of offense he will put in but explosive and powerful may mean throwing the long ball. With weapons like Randy Moss and Jerry Porter considering they stay, Jamarcus Russell would be a better fit for this offense. Brady Quinn is a great player no doubt but after a mediocre showing in the Sugar Bowl and his withdrawal from the Senior Bowl, he's been slipping. He gotta show what he can do in the NFL Combine and the pro workouts. If Moss is gone though it might trigger a Calvin Johnson pick but as of now I gotta go with Russell.

Hmmm
The Raiders QB situation is dismal, but thier defense was excellent.
A Rookie QB like Demarcus Russell may be attractive but that would mean they'd be shackled with a rookies growing pains. I don't think Al Davis is willing to wait for Russell to mature (When have they ever taken a QB in the 1st round)
The best Friend to a defense is a good Running Game.
SHOCKER -
With the 1st pick in the 2007 NFL DRAFT
The Oakland Raiders Select
Adrian Peterson - RB Oklahoma

The Raiders have defensive talent. Now they just need an offensive scheme and for Al Davis to leave the football part to his coaches. I think they wouldn't do bad to get a QB that has the long ball arm and I think that QB played at LSU last year. If they could get Culpepper(i don't see him doing well in the with his surrounding cast down there) from Miami...and draft some DL/OL help they would be better also.

Wow... what a question. With so many holes that need to be filled, it's hard to choose what to do... My hope is to see the Raiders select (drum roll).... Adrian Peterson, running back, from Oklahoma! My reason behind this is that I feel Walters can play QB, but we need to build up the offensive line. It's hard to lead a team from the ground. Our running backs aren't doing the job at all...let's grab a tough guy who's not afraid to run at you and who only gets stronger in the 4th quarter. I'd love to see that pick, and then unload some guys that cost way too much...use that to build the O-line...

Trade Moss and Porter to New England and fire Reche Caldwell for dropping all those passes in the AFC Championship game. Pickup Jeff Garcia from the free agency list and draft Center Kaili from USC to revamp that god awful offensive line.

I have to say Calvin Johnston only because they're losing Randy Moss and Porter so they don't have a Wide Receiver. Hey you don't know if they really need a QB. I think they do but Walter is still young and could have a breakout year.
