Let me put it this way. Why do so many people want to come to this country?

Maybe they are not looking through rose colored glasses like most Americans are. We have gotten so comfy with allowing the government to tell us what to do, that its citizens have forgotten that the government is suppose to be working for us...not the other way around. Many live with a false sense of security.....that will be our downfall. Many refuse to stop supporting the two party system, and start supporting the rights of the people. Many believe our government would never do any harm to its people on purpose. How naive they are.
No, we no longer have the truth and justice(from the government) and that has become the American way. :(

Are you from the USA? The USA is not perfect, homelessness, huge dependency on welfare, difficult access to medical treatment, drugs, corruption, violence, crime, graffiti, delinquency. Why would they? It also seems that the USA sees other success-full nations as a threat and takes an adversarial stance against them. The American way is not always the best, fairest or right way. Do you realise that your question comes off as really arrogant?

I don't mean to bag your country. I come from another western, democratic country and we have our problems too. There are many countries in the world that are controlled by dictators who do not care if their people succeed in life. They only care about their own power and control. I wish we could all work towards helping the whole world be a place where people can live in peace and good health, regardless of national boundaries. Best wishes, and thanks for asking.

Do you like to adapt a foreign model to the US? Like would you like it to be like Switzerland? Probably not because what works for the Swiss may not work for you.

The American model is good for America but also do remember that it is a European model adopted to another continent- kind of an improved Western European political system. But it has been fitted to work in America.

People do adopt many American things such as the clothing, the music, the business model, however, all of it cannot be applied because what works in the US may not work in other societies. The local culture/geography/traditions may not allow it.

Just like Americans do not like to adopt the Japanese lifetime employment system, other countries may not wish to adopt all things about the US. The Islamic way works in the Middle Eastern societies and the US style democracy may not work.

Europeans do not like the 2 week vacation/ no nationalized medical care and death penalty system of the US. They also do not like the US system of dividing people into Blacks, Whites and Hispanics. But they do adapt the US seeking spirit and future oriented/optimistic way of looking at things.

Let us all learn from each other and take the best from every soceity while adjusting it to fit our own particular cultures and geographies.

The Fates. The very nature of our existence works in mysterious ways. Their must be some universal reason why these other cultures choose not to follow in USA's footsteps. Most of these other countries don't provide the "freedoms" to their citizens has much as we have here. But who can say that WE are really free? The governments/ President/officials who run this country dictate how we live our lives here. If they decide to make new laws and make decisions regarding our livelihood (ie. draft us into war, raise our taxes, etc) in the near future that seem very unfair to the US citizens, we're virtually powerless to refuse or deny without facing repercussions.

Mostly, they do want to model themselves on our good points. However, while many like America they hate American policy. Let us not forget (they don't) that much of what our nation exports to other countries is in the form of Death Squads and Authoritarian leaders courtesy of our Intelligence agencies. Finally, Justice and Truth may be fading from America itself, as our current Patriot Act suspension of Habeus Corpus indicates. Churchill himself stated that as the first principle of a Free Nation.

No nation, no race, no country has a monopoly of either virtues or vices. America truly has her good sides. However, she is not in short supply of bad "habits" as well. the American society cannot be regarded, by any means, as utopian. For instance, I don't see anything to copy from the selfish "self-interest" policies of the US, whereby all "obstacles" in the way of achieving her selfish interests must be crushed, even if she tramples on the self interest of other nations thereby.

Most other countries have corrupt leaders and governments that support them. Not trying to say that the US doesn't have its share of political corruption, but in other countries there is no way of changing political leadership. In China you have no voting rights!
