I am thinking about going to Cambodia for a month to visit, what advice can you give me to have a pleasant stay. I have lived in England all my life and this would be the first time that i've travelled abroad. Any advice would be gratefully received.(laws and regulations/health/culture tips/info,) Thanks

Well, i realy know nothing about Cambodia or its culture so i coudnt help you there but as someone who travels, the best tip i can give is to keep your money in a secret place like a money belt or buy an ankle safe. try not to look too much like a tourist (no fanny packs, camera hanging around your neck etc). Look for English or color coded guides of the local bus routes or subways. Always take a card of the hotel youre staying at, that way if your lost all you need to do is hand it to a cabbie.

Get a 3 day pass to Angkor Wat - you will need it! Try and hire a rickshaw. The driver can take you from temple to temple quickly and will wait til you've finished. Its a lot easier than walking! $1 bills are good and everything is in US$ so I wouldnt bother changing to riels. Look out for geckos in the lights at night. Find out as much as you can before you go so you dont miss a second of it! I only went to Angkor so I dont know about anywhere else you could go. If you got bored you could try Thailand, Laos or Vietnam.

Tagalog student? I would have thought you were Filipino or going there, not Cambodia. Don't drink the water and respect customs and religions, be aware of your surroundings and don't stand out.
Learn customs regulations and remember there are con artist everywhere you go.Have a good trip.

The words off the beaten track dont enter your vocabulary...

Red bandanna are not fashion accessories...

they were the uniform of the mass murdering Khmer Roughe who executed all educated people

So if you see anyone with one hide. if you wear one you may get throat slit.

If you are walking and see red triangle signs freeze.

= landmines... look for any pins near feet or any disturbed earth or wires... or potential natural booby traps... poss shout for help but in no choice go back on steps exactly.

Don't go alone. Watch your back. When I was there in the early 80's it wasn't a very nice place.

blog your trip ... keep a journal with photos ... blog or publish these when you get back.

as with any country: don't have sex with their children or prostitues.
