I have a few favoritte artists. I want to know when new albums are released from them. Is there any webpage that allows you to subscribe to such information? and automatically get notifications on mail when a date approaches ... ?

Typically, if you look up the band's official website, you can sign up for a Newsletter from the band.
Some sites will have it right on the front page, very easy to find, you just enter your e-mail and click "OK". Others might have a link to a Newsletter section, but it's still not too complicated.
If you listen to bands that share a label, you can also usually go to that label's website, and again sign up for their Newsletter. This will give information that's less specific about the band, and focusing more on their releases.
When you sign up for a Newsletter you'll usually get a confirmation e-mail, make sure you check your e-mail inbox for that. If you don't get one within, say, two hours, try checking your spam folder to make sure it didn't get accidentally sent to the wrong place.
