Speculative emails to your local stations are easy enough, though you need to post your songs on the web these days. I have seen that new bands offer tasters of some of their work and a complete download of another. These can be protected if required, or streamed. Get yourself noticed by registering with the search engines and promote yourself. Once you have had enough people downloading or viewing your work, then you can apporach the big boys with your figures. Otherwise, you could go it alone using the major hosting sites such as Myspace or MP3.com. The big boys want to make money out of you, and they wont invest unless you can prove your marketablity.

I agree with THE ONE WHO KNOWS. I am a music director at a top adult contemporary radio station and have been here 20+ years. My boss(PD) gets 10-20 CD singles a week from record companies....most of which we don't play. Use the web to your advantage to promote your music. Good Luck.

Find a promoter who can shop your songs around to the stations .
Also throw in at least $500000 to promote the song .
songs are not played on the radio for free .

Send your music to several radio stations. They'll play it at a meeting, decide if it's good enough to go on air, then play it if it's good enough.
