Start young, best thing you could ever do...

Are you living in India by the way?

You're probably already aware of this, but the process of becoming a pilot can be a pretty expensive mission..

Paying for flight hours, lessons, instructors, exams...

Most jobs require you to have around 1000 hours, but you can be lucky to come across some lower hour jobs...

Most people decide on either aeroplane or helicopter -- if you can afford it, do both.

As a minimum, I would get :

Aeroplane / Helicopter

CPL (Commercial Pilots License, which you'll need to get a PPL Private Pilots License first)

MECIR (Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - allows you to fly in all types of weather in a multi engine air craft)

Could also look at getting...

ATPL (Airline Transport Pilots License - allowing you fly many passengers on commercial airlines)

Best place to get these qualifications for (more globally usuable licenses) is in Australia... The U.S is okay, but definately not as high standard as Australia...

If you have some kind of residency in India, perfect!! The aviation industry is huge over there right now, such as Kingfisher Airlines.. As an Indian resident you'd have no trouble getting a job...

Overall though, you're probably looking at a good solid couple of years of full time study in aviation. Be prepared for a lot of hard work, and, as it is still very much a male-dominated industry, have a strong head about you !!

All the best in your career.

B.

PS - you mentioned the aif force, some pilots do their hours through the airforce, but according to my understanding, you can't log those hours of experience in your log book...

Take a discovery flight at an section flight college. you'd be able to regulate the controls from the get-flow. you may fall acceptable now in love with it or you may puke....Or both!! you're youthful, that is sweet. do not do drugs and do not get seen tattoos. discover an outstanding college. turning out to be a pilot interior the defense force is difficult because you should shop up with this system or you wash out, yet i imagine the probabilities for a job interior the personal sector is extra effective with defense force flight experience. study a thanks to fly interior the u . s . a ., the superb faculties are right here and the airspace is the most conducive to gaining expertise of. It takes a lengthy time period to make good funds with the airways. you'll commence interior the right seat and could be making a lot less funds than the guy who pumps out the lavatory. do not be discouraged! it really is worth it in case you want flying and put in a even as. practise takes countless hours and funds, yet in case you progression nicely that's not too undesirable. good success!
