Most people (at least 60% according to Harvard studies), quit on their own; support isn't a requirement, but many find it helpful. A Yahoo group that I'm involved with, without_aa, is for people breaking away from AA and/or seeking recovery from alcohol or drugs:

You need to find a support group and/or a counselor. Is there an AA (alcoholics anonymous) organization near you? Look them up and find out. But, before anyone can help you, YOU must WANT to change. Good luck to you. You can do it!
