I've seen what I consider to be some pretty smart spiders. They are dfinitely aware of what's going on but I'm not sure about emotions ect... I question love when some of them eat their mates as part of mating to insure proper nutrition for babies.

In animals it is always a question of whether they seek physical pleasure or feel love. Lizards like heat so when they get "cuddly" is it love of company or heat?

I take the Budhist approach to this stuff: I don't know so I'll lean on the side of trying to not do harm to anything just in case. In our house we try to set spiders and other creatures outside rather than just killing them.

Real life isn't Charlottes' Web or Disney films.
Animals and insects dont' deal with emotions. They might feel pain because of their nerve ending but they don't hate, love,or take revenge. They live in the now. Most of that time is spent finding food and reproducing, life is simple and uncomplicated not like ours.

Humans always make the mistake of projecting their own version of intelligence upon the animal and insect world. These beings have an intelligence that is out of our scope and cannot be understood by the typical logical human reasoning. Humans make the mistake of believing that since these insects and animal are incapable of demonstrating a type of human intelligence that they have no feeling or intelligence of their own.

Surely a mother in almost every specie loves its children. She surely hates any creature that tries to harm them.Every creature has certain feelings but they cant express like us.Surely a spider will love its mate & gets angry when any creature tries to harm it atleast during mating period.

from what I read, spiders are smart, but I don't think they have emotions. Jumping spiders are my favorite.

Spiders are creepy. I think they can be hateful and vengeful. I find them sinister. I don't like the way they move. I find them to be disturbing predators, how they trap their prey in a web before they feed on them. I have arachnaphobia...I don't like insects in general but there's something about spiders that makes them really scary to me!!!
