Nope. Power consumption is the same no matter what u play with the possible exception of the bloody teletubbies theme song which causes depression in mp3 players :)

Well both answers are partially right, power consumption doesn't depent on what you play, but how loud you play it.
Generally when you listen to melodies you keep low volume unlike a high beat number. so playing a high beat number may cause more power consumption than a melody.

yup, no difference like the first answer power unit is in watts so if the wattage is 200w it will be consuming 200w whether soft or high beat song.
