Hiya, Why not go as a hippy, long flowing skirt, blouse, plenty of beads, hooped earrings, if your hair is long put 2 small plaits in the front and a thick headband. Hope you enjoy your night.

Hit the thrift stores. They alway have "far out" old clothes. If you want to do the Cross Dressing thing, get a polyester mens suit, a shiny shirt open at the collar, platform shoes and a lot of gold chains. Or get a disco dress and find a Farah Fawcette or Dorothy Hamil type wig. Look at any old episode of Three's Company or Charlie's Angels, oops drawing a blank on any British shows of that era. Another suggestion if you can find it is anything from Saturday Night Fever.

We did this for a friend's 40th. I went as a hippy type - paisley print teeshirt, flares, big floppy flowery hat, glitter gel on the face. OH went as a punk - very old, tight, ripped jeans, spiked and sprayed green hair, Anarchy "tattoo" (eyeliner), and a chunk of old chain from the garden swing around his neck.
Go visit a charity shop - you should be able to throw something together for not a lot of cash, and you'll be supporting a good cause too.

70's was all about flower power and glamour
watever it is makesure you get something in sequins, bright or flowery prints which are large.
bell bottoms will do teh trick
and platform or wedges
if you dont want the bell botoms go in for a short a-line skirt
with wedge heels
that are strappy
your make up should be glamour glamour and mroe glamour
that is
red or burgundy glossy lips with dark eyes
bronzed cheekbones adn shimmer
go in for gold, bronze or shimmer tones for eyeshadows
giv eyour eye a nice definition using eyeliner that thickens outwards adn give a kohl lining on teh lower lid
use lost of mascara
glossy lips in shades of burgundy, wine or red
instead of useing blush on the apples ofyour cheeks use it on the cheekbones to give your face more definition
brush on some bronzer to give that deep effect
shimmer can be brushe don it too
wish you luck
use lots of bangles and earrings liek danglers or chandeliers and let your hair down witha fringe
with loose curls and waves
you can use a cloth hair band to pull back your hair
use scarves in your attire too
wish you luck

If you don't want to spend too much money why not check out your local charity shops?? You may get some ideas there. Check out some nostalgia sites (there are bound to be some) and then you have an idea what you are looking for. Shouldn't cost you very much in the long run. You could check out ebay as well, to see if there are some bargains.

Wear jeans with a bright, pattern top. Then go 70s with an Afro wig and medallion - both you can get from a fancy dress shop for less than a fiver i'm sure.

I really like the second dress that you have selected, I think it looks amazing, you will fit right into the 70s era with that one, the first one is great as well, but I prefer the second one... hope you are able to pick the ones you want, and have an amazing time at the party :)

I was there too! Remember the hippies in the early 70's? What about punk or Glam Rock? Or just do as my friend did (who hated fancy dress parties) and wear denim jeans and denim shirt, grow stubble and pretend to be Eric Clapton!

What I particularly remember about 70's clothes is flares and tank tops, with platform soled shoes, and big hair - not too difficult to get that look! Have fun!
