Yes, I have often thought that. Especially when it is worn by some middle class student with designer trainers made in some far eastern sweatshop by child labour.

Not really. Take a look at all the Latin American countries that took his message of revolution to heart, as well as others around the world.

The dumb US "domino theory" was a piece of crap. All the countries that turned to communism as a means of opposing US interference and imperialism (so the US could get cheap products while others lived in poverty) have now turned to and built capitalist and (mostly) free countries BECAUSE the US is no longer interfering.

Just look at the list: Nicaragua, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Angola, Vietnam, Cambodia, Greece, among others. Given how repressive the US has become, some of those countries now have more freedom of the press and individual rights than the US.

People in general and Che Guevara in particular, turned to extremist ideologies when extremism was the only thing powerful enough to confront a different nation's terrorism and extremism (in this case, the US). Even the Cubans and Fidel Castro did not want to turn to communism; before Castro did deals with the Soviets, he was part of the democratic movement in Cuba. (However, the US armed Batista so he could oppress and murder members of the democratic movement.)

The fading power of the US is allowing freedom and democracy to spread around the world, which is something I'm sure Guevara would have approved of.
