I have a windows xp installer CD but lost the cover which contain the 25 digit installer key, earlier i have instaled the software from that CD but due to recent virus attack i have formated my computer. Can any body help me to find that key from my CD without calling Microsoft Office in India??? & this cd was never used on any other computer Earlier!

well...most computers have that same label posted on the shell of the unit. Either on the side..or the back. Try looking there. Other than that. Your just pretty much out of luck unless you get someone else's number.

Insert the CD, and go to Open the CD instead of auto-play it. You should search the CD, sometimes they will have a file in them that has the key for when this type of stuff happens. Otherwise, call Microsoft and ask them (but I warn you, it cost money before they even solve the problem).

Now that you've formatted your computer you're in trouble. There are many free keys on the net but they're illegal. Sorry, I'd help if I could.

This is why I take a black magic marker and copy the instal numbers on every one of my cds

By chance and this is a long shot.

Look on your computer case and see if there is a Microsoft OEM sticker that has a key on it.

If not, this computer died on me and you can have it Did you get it ?????? Quickly.......and REALLY!

u could have asked this question before formatted,no chance now,take microsoft technical support no other way now.

no.. without appealing to ms or having it currently installed on a pc, you wont have a chance
