why was calling newyork accident(twin tower blast) as 9/11 and why was calling mumbai blast as 7/11 ????

9/11 happened on September 11 (the 11th day of the 9th month - written as 9/11).
Similarly, Mumbai happend on July 11th (the 11th day of the 7th month). However, I haven't ever heard this one.
Pretty straight forward.

The twin towers fell on September 11, 2001. September is the 9th month. Which is how 9/11 came about. The World Trade Center is remembered every year on 9/11 (September, 11) 9/11 is also the emergency phone number.
7/11 is a store. Much like a gas station w/o the gas station. It's a convenient store. Or like everyone said the Mumbai blasts occurred on July 11. Same as above. July is the 7th month and 11th day.
4/11 is used for information. For example in the US & Canada if you dial 411 on your cell phone you can get the address and telephone number of any business.
3/11 is also used on cell phones for road side assistance.

9/11 is a date November the 11th which the towers collapsed. 9/11 was chosen as the name because 911 is the phone # for the United States emergency line. If you need the police, a firefighter or ambulance call 911. A bit of irony Osama probably chose it for. 7/11 is just a copycat name.
