A few of these party animals will luck out--but most will end up with an entry level job making 30k and wondering what happened. Part of the reason, I think, is that they've absorbed a lot of messages--in high school and from society generally--that have taught them to act that way.
I see this all the time in college students--and it's not lack of character (as some of the other answerers implied)--and you're right--they don't study. But a lot have never learned how do work--to get things done, done on time, and done right. I see students who turn assignments that are inadequate--and honestly don't understand why I gave the work a poor grade--because in high school they were never required to meet any real standards. I don't want to jsu tfault the schools--but that's the one place where they should be held accountable. And that's not happening.
I feel sorry for these students--because the majority of them simply don't realize they are not doing what htey need to do--they are, however, doing exacctly what they've been taught to do. And when they have to face the real world they are not going to be prepared to cope with it.

We Americans have been riding the gravy train for a long time. Most of us think we are owed a great job and we are owed many days off. This may have been true in the past, but with the new growing super economies most of us Americans will be in for a rude awakening in the near future. We no longer compete with our neighbors, fellow township members, or even people in our own country--we now compete with people all over the world. Like many people have said this will open opportunity for people all over he world, but it will also close many doors for people who are unprepared.
I do not think it is false hope as much as false conditioning to the idea that we Americans are some how naturally better than anyone else and do not need to work for anything. After all, I am owed good things in life.

Never mind what the others are doing, or not. As long as YOU keep your nose to the grindstone, YOU are going to do well and that's what matters. I am not saying that you can't relax occasionally as long as you don't lose sight of the fact that the better education you get now, the better your life will be in the future. Don't stuff up the opportunity, make the most of the process, 'cos you only get one go at it!
Best of luck

They more than likely study, but even if they didn't, they will more than likely be suckups who will achieve success and make more than six figures.
Just do the best you can in life and don't stoop to their level.
Over the years i've seen many very incompetent people achieve high level jobs they didn't deserve and were totally incompetent in thier performance.
A classic example of this is: George W. Bush

well if inflation gets bad maybe they will make six figures.
but i have to be honest even though i hate it some of those drunkards will probably make 6 figures and not really deserve it. i agree though, everyone wants to be a millionaire but no one wants to do the actual work for it, they think all you have to to is get on tv, win something, follow steps 2-3 and the money comes rolling in.
i personally blame this on our parents and teacher telling us we can do and be what ever we want to be, but not everyone can be rich some people lose.

congratulations to you I agree but the most important thing right now is don't worry about how people behave. this means you have insight depth than most students and you will go far in your studies than most. keep your head high and be confident and be aware of what is going on and that is why you are doing so well. . its all about you now. keep studying and stay focused and good luck

6 figures? Do they mean 6 doll figures in an assembly line? Unless they have some natural talent at some sport, they will not make that money.

If you get good grades and they don't, this will give you an advantage over them when opportunity knocks. Has opportunity already knocked?
