How to Import a DVD on your Computer?

ok, how do i take a DVD movie or TV show and import it onto the computer? what program do i need? and any suggestions on whats the best out there? I want to make fan vids but i cant seem to find something good to import the episodes onto my computer. Whats the best program?

Go no further than this awesome piece of software: http://www.dvdshrink.org/ and what more it's free. That's to copy dvds to your computer and watch them from there. I haven't checked yet if you can burn to a blank disk. Have fun!
