The holistic stuff isn't worth the bottle it's packaged in. If you are ill enough to be prescribed zyprexa, don't endanger yourself by eating some untested hippie herb crap.
That being said, there are many new good meds. Zyprexa has a lot of side effects, including problems with lipids and blood sugar. Ask your doctor if you are a good candidate for geodone or abilify. I really hate zyprexa, and I think in the near future it will be unused.
Also, work on making your life as routine, and even boring, as possible for a few months-- this really helps. AND AVOID COFFEE, which stimulates problems, and avoid tobacco, which occupies some of the same neuro-receptors, requiring you to take a much higher dose (and risk more side effects).
Very best of luck.

Zyprexa is not only prescribed as an anti-psychotic, Drs also prescribe it for people with severe cases of depression, although Zyprexa has serious side effects, such as weight gain, kidney and possible diabetes consequences on long term use, Zyprexa helps improve your sense of self esteem, you might want to ask your Dr to reduce slowly the dosage, and consider the introduction, of a good vitamin B complex, this is allowed to be used with prescription drugs. Do not use any herbal product with St Johns Wort, in association with anti-psychotics people have had bad results, these two do not mix. StJohns works fine for depression on its own. Do not get off your medication, work with your care practitioner to achieve the health you are seeking. God Bless

Before taking this medicine
You should not take Zyprexa if you are allergic to olanzapine.
Zyprexa is not approved for use in psychotic conditions related to dementia. Olanzapine may increase the risk of death in older adults with dementia-related conditions.
Long-term use of Zyprexa can cause a serious movement disorder that may not be reversible. Symptoms of this disorder include uncontrollable muscle movements of your lips, tongue, eyes, face, arms, or legs. The longer you take olanzapine, the more likely you are to develop this movement disorder. The risk of this side effect is higher in women and older adults.
To make sure Zyprexa is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
- liver disease;
- heart disease, high or low blood pressure;
- a history of low white blood cell (WBC) counts;
- high cholesterol or triglycerides;
- a history of heart failure, heart attack, or stroke;
- a history of breast cancer;
- seizures or epilepsy;
- diabetes;
- an enlarged prostate or difficulty urinating;
- bowel problems; or
- narrow-angle glaucoma.
It is not known whether Zyprexa will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Taking antipsychotic medication during the last 3 months of pregnancy may cause problems in the newborn, such as withdrawal symptoms, breathing problems, feeding problems, fussiness, tremors, and limp or stiff muscles. However, you may have withdrawal symptoms or other problems if you stop taking your medicine during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking Zyprexa, do not stop taking it without your doctor's advice.
Olanzapine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using Zyprexa.
The olanzapine orally disintegrating tablet (Zyprexa Zydis) may contain phenylalanine. Talk to your doctor before using this form of olanzapine if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).
