Then why hasn't anyone been able to stand up and bring it back if its legal status was created solely on racism. Government has taken no actions to study it until now because it is more common nowadays. Studies have just recently found within the past 30-40 years that all the negative things said about it have had no scientific proof or studies, it was and still is false propaganda. Thanks to Yellow Journalism that people are drugged up on Prozac to calm them down instead of harmless pot.

Oh yea, for the record. Marijuana does not make you stupid. That accusation was made in 1937 with no scientific proof not only because they just made it up but because they didn't have the technology to figure that out yet. I am a heavy pot smoker years, I smoke heavily for about a week then go clean for long periods of time, and have achieved a 4.0 + Gpa and kept it ever since I started. I am very active in sports, and I will not ever touch a cigarette or alcohol again since I found pot. The whole gateway theory doesn't add up, thats like saying 90% of people who drink water out of a cup will be addicted to bottled water the next day, really that claim is really that absurd. People do not become dependent to the drug, they just want to feel good just as addictive as chocolate. One more thing it doesn't make you retarded, it will seem that way to the shallow minded but at least try it once and find out how deep your concentration actually gets. All the negative claims were found false.

Cannibis has been used responsibly elsehere in the world until it was outlawed in the U.S. in 1937.
1937 was the year Duport patented plastic, nylon and paper making. Hemp was the #1 fiber and a direct compeditor to these products.
The first Bible was written on a piece of hemp.
Th first Declaration of Independece was written on a piece of hemp too.
The first U.S. Constitution was written on a piece of hemp.
U.S. flags are sometimes made of hemp.
However in 1937 without any scientific research, President Roosevelt signed the Marijuana Tax Act.
This was because the U.S. was pushed by "Harry. J. Anslinger". Who was trying to further his career effectivly by illegalizing the cultivation and possession of Marijuana.
Later a commission found all negative effects claimed by Anslinger to be completly false.
Anslinger used his weight with the press to have the findings buried.

Good question! I seriously think that Pot DOES have its uses. There is such a thing as medical pot, so there is definitely a good use out there for it. I have been a CNA and I have seen people die who have had cancer. They are in horrible pain which needs to be addressed...with the pain killers that Pharmaceuticals make comes the nausea, but you don't get that with pot. Also, the pot naturally helps people who get chemo with the nausea that THAT causes. Pot also is used for people who get migraines to be able to better manage them.

It is SICK that the Federal Government tries to play Dr. when they don't even know what in the he** they are talking about in the first place. Many states already have medical pot laws to try to protect people like this above, but the Federal Government comes in and ignores it saying it is "EVIL" Well, I know smoking and alcohol kill a lot more people than pot.

Pot is NOT a gateway drug that the propaganda has tried to prove. You can eat it for gods sake! And you still get the same, if not better, high that you get from smoking it. I have never tried it, but this is well known. Pot has so much worth, but it scares the cr*p out of the pharmaceuticals because it is easy to grow, cheap and easy to use...they would loose major amounts of money if it were legalized Federally because Dr. would prescribe that instead of the more expensive drugs that you need to take other drugs not to make you sick.

Mostly it is a coincidence of history. It would undoubtedly have become illegal if it didn't have so many people using it. It also happened to be a vice of the upper classes. So both the lawmakers and the people were in favor of it for the longest time. Now that there is more knowledge of it's harmful effects it is too late to change because of the tobacco industries powerful lobbies and the fact that it's a personal choice. Historically a well established drug in a culture is almost impossible to remove, take a look at prohibition in US history. If you're argueing for marijuana however you're not going to win because there just aren't enough users. This country is still a democracy and all it would take is an incredibly wealthy lobby and a massive grassroots campaign..... yup that's all it would take.....

Yes, marijuana is illegal for all the wrong reasons. The only reason for it to be illegal is oddly almost never talked about, yet people bring up all the propaganda that has been disproved all the time. It would help if people spent a little time looking the subject up before discussing it and jumping to conclusions. The reason being that it impress driving ability and there isn't a way that I'm aware of to test if you are high on marijuana like Breathalyzers do for alcohol. Marijuana should definitely be decriminalized at least though.

I think the biggest problem with smoking Marijuana is that it's a bridge drug that brings people to cigarettes or other drugs. I don't know a single person that has smoked Marijuana that also does not smoke cigarettes. I'm convinced one led to the other.

But that said, I see absolutely no difference between smoking cigarettes and Marijuana. Either they both should be illegal or both legal.

It's our stupid double standard legal system we have. Makes no sense at all....

Actually as you say Marijuana is a good thing but its use makes a person addict, And if the person is not so healthy he can die. It is more powerful then the cocine, mandrax, nicotine, etc. Hence the government of India has banned it from use.
