Gorilla springs to mind

I would have to say that a virus is the strongest animal in the world. All of you that argue a virus is not an animal, I propose that the fact that they are built up of RNA or DNA makes them an animal.
Furthermore, replication suggests that they are animal. Why do I suggest they are so strong?
Simply, and plainly, every year the beasts replicate and mutate into strains that we cannot control. The Ebola strain has and is still causing major problems.
The saving grace for the English Empire was the fire of London. To think a simple organism could be stopped by a fire started in a place called Pudding Lane. The Plague was either Bubonic Fever or an Ebola type virus.
Viruses affect both plants and animals, the greatest effect is on animals, as far as us humans are concerned. Where the effect is on animals, the virus replicates in the animals cells.
So to my way of thinking, the virus is as much beast as non beast. The virus has wiped out cities, populations of animals (we have even tried viruses to control rabbits in Australia) and has caused hatred.
That is my vote.

Biggest = strongest, therfore the blue whale, in order to move its massive body around is the strongest, not that its strength is very usefull for anything else. On land it would be the elephant, and the strongest predator, and the one I would least want to come up against would be the polar bear

Pound for pound (or gram for gram) it's probably the ant..it can carry many times its own weight...an elephant would be squashed if you put 20 tons on its back.

Zico...think you're strong??..try arm-wrestling a gorilla,or even a chimp..you'll see how weak humans are.

I think you have measure strength as a ratio against body mass or else it is meaningless surely.

In which case the rhinoceros beetle, which can lift 850 times its own body weight, is the clear winner.

have you ever seen an eagle standing on it's legs with it's wings spread out.

Boy it's a ...#*&+ing intimidating sight. It may not be the strongest, but it's looking good for it.
