I have 512 MB of memory now on my laptop and I run XP pro just fine. If I upgraded to Vista Home, would my computer run terribly slow? Would applications run like a snail as well? Should I just stay with XP until I get at least 1 Gb of memory installed?

You cant. Vista desires 512 minimum. purchase upload'l Ram after Vista is released. Wait some weeks any way. you will hear plenty approximately risk-free practices holes, updates and so on.. permit the airborne dirt and dust settle. you do no longer would desire to hurry. Take it sluggish. in case you haven't any longer any compelling motives to enhance to Vista, if i've got been you, i visit attend. it might activity you to comprehend - I certainly have been a beta tester for Msoft for a protracted time. Vista is one among many that I examined. It seems solid. I positioned it in a various partition just to attempt. This vista nonetheless would not like the video card I certainly have yet went forward and put in it besides. i did no longer have trick it or something. No probs. so some distance. My suggestion? Wow, what an idea!

Convert a well run system over to a POS that, in the press, almost every reviewer advises you to avoid, for at least another year.

Plus, Aero Glass, the slick desk top that copied 35 Mac attributes, won't run on most systems, and does require a 128Mb video card that is made after January 2007, and also is REGISTERED and CERTIFIED by Microsoft for Vista.

Plus, I know something that runs upto 50X faster that runs the Internet, too, but, you probably don't want a FREE 5500 games and programs Download of a LiveCDrom

I use windows vista home premium with 1 gig of ram installed and it uses 45-55% at all times so I'd say it would run realy slow with only 512, in fact. I'm already thinking about upgraded to 2gigs.

I would stick with XP for another year. What's this rush to upgrade to Vista? If you run applications then you should get at least 1GB of RAM anyway.

Unless you're really dying to get Vista, don't.I installed Vista RDM(Ready to manufacture) version but I really felt that XP is really just fine and Vista made my computer real slow.Your applications, especially heavy-graphic games will run slower.

You dont need another memory actually. Just put on another video card with a higher memory capacity. Because windows vista actually requires a greater capacity in videos and graphical display.

just stay with XP, unless you have a real absolute desperate need for vista it's not worth the money, it doesn't have any ultra-new stuff
