unfortunately, covers happen all too often usually by bands that are crap and they hope that the familiarity of the song will sell records for them e.g. Girls Aloud, Westlife and all the other Boy/Girl bands out there. Get some originality folkes.

I felt the same about the Love album put out by the Beatles a few months ago.

Blah.

You can never bring back the first time around. That is when it was fresh, new and vital. Now it is because the band members are being greedy or need to pay for another divorce or buy a pool for the country estate. It does not come from passion.

It's passable. If it gets some kids who never heard the superior original to listen to Pink Floyd it won't be all bad. That said, I'd quite like to take Mr Eric Prydz outside for a good ***** fight for royally ruining Steve Winwood's Valerie too and having that video with all the totty looking lacivious in a gym...

I think its quite sad that these "bands" for want of a better description haven't anything original to offer music. The charts are full of cover versions and dance versions of older songs. I think it just shows a lack of creativity and originality. It's not difficult to take a few bars of music and add a new drum and bass line.

There are some creative uses of sampling, mostly in R'n'B and rap music but for most it seems to be a good way to have a quick cash-in one hit wonder.

Cover versions can be annoying (although I quite like Proper Education); that said, if Joe Cocker had never recorded 'A Little Help From my Friends' we would be stuck with the Beatles' version, which wasn't their best song, to be polite.

I think is OK.

I think I've answered a question like this before.
There are certain songs/bands from history that just shouldn't be touched because they won't be done justice. Others if covered by credible artists and covered well can be done justice.

This version not too bad.

Remakes are never as good as the originals, no matter who does them. Some do a good job, but it's never the same.

I hate remakes - firstly it makes me feel ancient, and then it never sounds as good as the original (but maybe that's a personal thing)

It's awful. I don't know why Pink Floyd, or their music label, allows shite bands to use the sample.
