There is a definitive answer to this one! The egg. There were egg laying reptiles around long before the chicken. Therefore the egg came first.

Actually, I believe the Rooster came first (then promptly ignored the chicken's "needs" and went to sleep), which made the chicken so made she layed an egg....

Depends on your take on life and who made life.
Think don't judge grasshopper.
If you believe in God (or even a creator), well God made man, woman, and all the beast. So God made the chicken, the chicken then proceeded to lay the egg.
If you beleive in Evolution of microparticles and that stuff turning into real things, then at one point a bacteria (all these spawn or lay eggs to continue to eveolve or turn into) turned into ameaba which turned into some little sea creature which turned to fish, to bigger fish to smaller fish, to air breathing fish to land walking fish to water dwelling reptile to land dwelling reptile to reptile to bigger reptile to smaller reptile to flying reptile to bird to eventually lay the egg that eventually hatched the CHICKEN.

God created Adam in His own image. God did not create an embryo - He created man. God created all the birds of the sky, the fishes of the sea and the mammals of the earth. That should tell you the only possibility is that the chicken came first.
