Statistically speaking, the combined birth control pill (not the progesterone-only "mini" pill) or Depo Provera both provide the greatest protection against pregnancy, with near 100% effectiveness when used properly. An IUD is the next most effective. Other methods decrease in effectiveness from there.
Condoms, of course, provide protection against both unwanted pregnancy and some (but not all) sexually transmitted diseases.
However, the *best* contraceptive for YOU is something that can only be determined by you and your health care provider. Some contraceptives are not appropriate for some people due to their health history, allergies, risk factors and lifestyle and sexual practices. An honest discussion with your nurse practitioner, midwife or OB/GYN is the only way to find the birth control method that will be safest and most effective for you.

Not to have sex at all is the only 100% affective contraception but if your like most people and cant do with out it then i'de suggest if your male then condoms and if your female theres a few different things you can try but remember not everything is for everyone!
Your better off talking to your doctor about whats best for you..

any type of birthcontrol..ect..the pill..patch..the ring..the shot + a condom! for birthcontrol a condom is not worth it! condoms are better to protect against std's but its not 100% guarentee!
