it depends on what kind of emotion you're after

if you want sad, think of a sad moment that happened in your life, if you want happy, think of joke, or the last thing that made u laugh

What most actors do, usually when singing a solo for an audition, is have an imaginary singing partner. It sounds really cheesy, but it absolutley does work. It causes the singer to react to the lyrics as if somone else were there, evoking genuine emotion. You have to act in a way that you really are responding to another person through the song.

Think about? You should be THINKING about what the other characters are saying. If you've rehearsed a role diligently and understand your own character's motivations and objectives, then all you need to do is LISTEN actively and respond naturally. Good acting is NOT about manufacturing emotions; it's about the give-and-take of natural human interaction.

Think about the character. Put yourself in the character's shoes--understand your character's motives, desires, and feelings. Think like the character thinks, and it should help you to become a character with believable emotion.
