Good Grief. You can get toxic shock syndrome. You can read about it on the tampon box. At least you had enough sense to get to the doctor. What did she say to you?

I'm sure the bacterial growth was caused by the decaying pieces of uterus within the tampon.

As long as you don't notice an itching sensation or the feeling of bugs crawling on your skin, you should be fine. If you experience either of those symptoms you need to be evaluated in the emergency room, because you probably have developed a condition called "vaginal toxicity" and could lead to sterility.

toxic shock syndrome... it's rare but can develop when tampons are left in for a long time. That's why the pack say never leave in for more than 8 hours... Hope alls ok

vaginitis could happen. tampons promote moisture and is moisture invites bacteria. antibiotics will help you but you'll need to have your discharges examined for the doc to pinpoint what bacteria it is and to know what antibiotic may be effective against that particular bacteria. while waiting for the results, your doc will prescribe you with a broad-spectrum antibiotic - an antibiotic for all strains of bacteria. :-) you'll be fine just get to a doctor asap because that infection could ascend to your uterus, etc... endometriosis is a bigger problem. so get to your doc now.

I'm sorry but I don't know how you can forget you were wearing a tampon for a week. Didn't you notice the string? Either this is a hoax question or you're a moron. What the hell is a nuvaring???

you cant leve it in for a week. You would have ended your period. Anyway, if you did, you will definately risk TSS.
