From the Qur'an, Ali translation, verse 4:34
"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because God has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what God would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For God is Most High, great (above you all)."

So if my wife is disobedient to me, according to the Qur'an, I should:
1. Admonish her;
2. kick her out of bed; and
3. beat her.

Hey, no reason to attack me...I'm just trying to get someone to explain this verse from the Muslim holy book. Does it say "beat her" or doesn't it?

12 answers now. OK, let's see if I have this right. I'm an embarrassment and a moron for asking about the Qur'an. Muslim is a nationality. Beating is OK, but only lightly, no breaking bones, no hitting in the face, and don't leave bruises. How am I doing so far?
