Sorry, sorry, sorry, about that, you have to get as many people as you can involved in a poll;-)

You are up in a plane. The pilots are ill and pass out. The plane is on automatic pilot, and will fly on until out of fuel.
Would you sit frozen rigid to the spot, or like me, at least have a go to land safely?
I warn you though, say good bye now!

Hi TheDudeAb,
I'm not keen. Just hope when you do fly, you are not sitting next to me. You think landing a plane is bad!
Thanks,for answering.
I still try to fly it though...

Hi jum,
Yes, I know, the title was a bit underhanded, misleading, and not
lady-like. I'm sorry if you couldn't eat your breakfast.
I shall certainly look in on the website you left for me. You may like me better next time.
I send you an apology anyway!

Cassandra

Hi there, Steve M,
you sound as though you know what you are talking about.
I have a feeling I'm going to wake up late, and miss the flight.
Ok, Ok, I'll phone around if I get a premonition!
Many thanks for answering.

I would leap up and say:- "Leave it to me, I'm an expert pilot .................just joking". Now that I have diffused the tension (hee hee), I would take control. First, I would radio in for assistance and instructions on how to land a plane with the minimum of damage if need be. Then I'd give it my best shot. If I was certain that I was going to fail and no one else was available, I would tell everyone that it was a piece of cake before crashing the plane in a deserted area.

I would have no choice but to attempt to land the plane. I would contact the ground and get talked through the procedures and hope that it worked.

I would not attempt to land on the sea - planes do not 'land' on the sea, they crash into the sea. When the plane touches the water, the surface is always swaying and swelling and the wings touch a wave and the whole thing breaks up.

The part that is scary is when you've been told how to disengage the autopilot and then the plane has got to be properly controlled.
Basically, we would most likely end up in a crash.

Great question!

I'd find the aeroplanes computer, log on to YA and ask the following question: Does anyone know how to land this fricking thing?

Have you ever seen that spoof film Airplane.
It looks like I picked the wrong day to give up smoking.

oh man its scarry gurl
but ya if there is no option
and if i would sit frozen and wait till the fuel gets over than
ultimately i would die

so whynot try to land it bcoz it has 1 per cent chances
of being safe
something is better that nothing
