Don't do it, Let it work as it was designed to work. I am on my second one, Small office size now (full size) before changing from a house to an apartment. The engineers have tested every phase for efficiency and the units do not require any additional help to work at their best. Ask the technicians at "Sharper Image.com".
Enjoy, they are really good ! ! !

Kim C is right on the money. Fanning behind the ionic breeze actually reduces the effectiveness of the machine. Don't do it.

isn't that more of a magnetic type of air cleaner not really a "breeze" ? so if you placed a fan behind it, you would be reducing the effectiveness of this fan to catch air debris. I could be totally thinking of something else? good breathing.
