is this true that American boys and men like to wear caps? how is this cap-culture perceived by the Americans themselves? ...In France, boys that often wear caps are considered to be either disrespectful or...having grown up in a rap-ghetto culture!! I would like to know is cap-wearing that common in America no matter your color ,education or upbringing?

I know a lot of males who wear caps. It's just what they do. I don't think it says anything in particular about the person. Some guys my age have a hat for almost every outfit they own...it's kinda like an accessory that's comperable to a woman's purse or whatever. It's really not that big of a deal IMHO.

As you stated, it's partly the rap-culture thing, especially if the cap is worn backwards or at a goofy angle. It looks ridiculous on all people, but is especially so on white guys over the age of 8.
Personally I don't like caps, because most of them are cheap-looking, and I get sunburned on my ears and neck when I wear a cap. I prefer a medium-brimmed Tilley hat, which outclasses a cap by a considerable distance.

I like wearing a baseball type cap. I grew up on a farm and that was the best way to keep the sun out of our eyes. So I just grew up wearing one and I still wear one.

Not all of us wear caps.
If I were to try and affix an explanation, I would suggest perhaps, messy hair phobias.
As you could probably deduce, I don't need one for that.
