wel i all depends on ur strengths,weakness,interests and pleasures, comfort level and all such things
some convential basics abt Mktg & HR r:-
(1)for both one shld have an extrovert type of personality
(2)in mktg u needs to travel a lot and may be because of this
it's a male dominated fieldchanging at avery slow pace
(3)in HR u have 2 try 2 get insight into the mind of prospective candidate
(4)for both u shld b ready for keeping a 24x7 smile on ur face
as they r people oriented fields
(5)in India HR is a comparatively newer concept than Mktg and
thus have more brighter prospects

They both suck. With HR, you have to deal with people; and they're the worst part of corporate life. With marketing, you're lying to God, country, the girl you left behind and their dog.
Sales pays better than either. At least you can be paid for being a worm...

Both have great potential. If you are a fresher getting a core HR job is tough whereas Marketing jobs are very many. as you gain experience you will find HR making good progress than their peers !!
