I work at Randall's and it's not the most glamorous job (i'm still in school, give me time :/), but my supervisor announced that there was a "non-corporate" position and he was looking for someone to fill it. I work in the bakery, and even with all the work I do, it's bascially "wait and see" when it comes to me getting hours for different reasons every week, and lately the company's hired 3 more people in my department so it's really getting annoying. Every weekend I have to worry about if I'm going to make enough to cover my bills.

Well, this position is a wine stuart (I think that's what it's called) because there's like 1,500 different kinds of wine/liquor. The job would be wine stuart/price tagger (or something) where I just tag prices and whatnot. That's supposed to be 40 hours, and I told him I was interested, but I think I can do more to show that I'd like this.

What can I do to show my supervisor that I want this position?

First of all, good for you Diane for showing the initiative for wanting to advance in your job.

Since you've already mentioned your interest to your Supervisor, I would also suggest you go to the Personnel or Human Resources Department of your company and inquire there about this position...I guarantee that, if they felt you were the least bit qualified to fill the position, they would contact your Supervisor and they would at least talk about the possibility of moving you into that job.

I would suggest you search on line for any information about wine stuards and pick up a few buzz words.
I tried search for "wine stuart" but nothing came up...check again to be sure what the job title is.

ADD EDIT:
Ok, if it's the same thing you are talking about, he or she is called a "Wine Steward".
"One who is employed to serve wine, as at a restaurant or winetasting."

Also called a Sommelier in better restaurants around the world.
Sommelier is the French term for cellarmaster or wine steward. Sommeliers are individuals with a love of wine who are eager to impart some of their knowledge to the customer.

You can do your own search for: Wine Steward

Good luck!
