Viewing Your Computer’s IP Information
Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
Then click on the Run Icon, which will open up the Run Menu for you.
Locate the white area of the screen next to the word Open: in the Run Menu.
Now type in the word COMMAND and click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen.
For Windows XP, you can also type in the word CMD and then click on the OK button.
This will launch the Window’s DOS Prompt Command Window for you.
Now using your keyboard, type IPCONFIG /ALL and press the Enter key.
Windows will now display the IP Configuration Information for your computer.
When finished, simply close the Command Prompt window to return back to Windows.
Note: This Technical Brief Will Work For All Operating Systems Including Windows XP.

You can't see your IP if you aren't connected to anything, as you don't HAVE an IP unless you are connected to something.
When you connect to your router (When you get one), your router assigns you an INTERNAL IP address that is only used within your network. Your router, which represents you from the outside internet, has an IP Address that is used for your entire network. THis is the IP that other people see/use.
But, in short, if you don't have an internet connection, YOU DO NOT HAVE AN IP ADDRESS.

You probably don't need it. Routers made to distribute an internet connection among a number of computers can handle all of the needed protocol setup without being told an IP address.

If you don't have an internet connection, you don't have an IP address. Unless you mean the local IP address (your computer). 127.0.0.1 is the TCP/IP local loop-back address, often named localhost.
